Foggy Thoughts

OK somewhere I lost a post. I'm sure I posted since the last one here.

Anyhow. G-pa is in  hell St. Luke's. We've been to see him everyday except yesterday. It's like a circus there. He seems well. He is not adjusting well. For a man who probably shouldn't even be alive, he's doing great. I'm just not sure how well he'll do in this situation because he's such a loner and care homes aren't the place for a loner.

It's Easter. So Happy Easter. Us? We're doing nothing. Well not nothing, nothing. "We" (because I have a mouse in my pocket like that) mowed the lawn and went grocery shopping. We're going to have ham (gag), broccoli and potatoes for dinner. My mom happens to be down house sitting so she's going to come over at some point.
Oh and I de-horned my last does today. About a week later than they should have been. Nothing says happy easter to the neighbors like the sound of screaming goats and the smell of burnt hair. Maybe the kidlets thought we had caught and were eating the Easter Bunny.

My two does for the replacement project left yesterday and in their place we gained a rabbit. Fair trade. The rabbit eats way less. It's amazing how just two makes a difference. I'm really looking forward to Molly coming (if she'll take these). And then if I can sell the Obers, and then those two toggs? Woo Hoo! 6 less mouths to feed.

This stubbornness I mean.

A quick G-Pa update. He's stablized. He was sitting up eating breakfast (if you count two bites eating) on Monday morning when I arrived at the Hospital. Bill went yesterday to see him while I was working and said he was much the same.

I have mixed feelings on this one.

If my father hadn't seen my grandpas lights on last night at 1am we'd be planning a funeral this morning.
Now we wait. He has a non resuscitation order and 2 weeks to live. His doctors will keep him at the hospital as long a they can, then it's on to Hell St. Luke's.
He had a massive heart attack. They count enzymes after a heart attack in tenths. .1 or .5. My grandfathers enzymes where in whole numbers, 20 to be exact. Massive.
He's comfortable. He's lucid but too weak and full of fluid to talk.
Even if he "recovers" he'll only be at 50% of what he was before the attack. That's not much. He probably won't walk.
I'm hoping when I go back tonight that the drugs will have taken some effect.
At least he's comfortable.
24th-Mar-2007 04:23 pm - Why Arcata Inhales
B&W Libra
I think I finally get why Arcata is the pot head capital and it has nothing to do with the university there. I really used to lay the blame for the haze at the door of the university. Yeah there are a lot of college kids who rotate through Acrata's doors but the real reason people who live there smoke pot is to deal with the depression brought on by the SHITTY weather. I mean if it's going to be cold and damp and dark I might as well be high right?

On the way home after stopping at the chinese buffet for lunch I tell Gee, "We are going home and taking a nap. I do not care it you sleep but you are laying down and resting...(insert rest of we've been up early all week speech here)"
"I'm not tired. I don't need a nap."
"I'm not tired boy" fell asleep on the way home and after denying needing to continue said nap after arriving home but going to bed, just woke up after 4 hours.
"I'm not tried boy's" dad is still passed out on the couch and I'm going to have to poke him with a stick soon. I even caught a couple hours myself and actually didn't wake up feeling worse for once.

22nd-Mar-2007 10:59 am - All about the kid
B&W Libra
Yesterday was conference day. It was also Granny cleans the house day which means the boy didn't have to go to his conference. He should have. He's doing GREAT. Even after missing 10 days this quarter (fucking bronchitis) he managed to pull all his grades up at least one letter grade if they weren't already A's. All the other spots, the E/S/N's are all at E (excellent).

While talking to teacher he mentioned trying to keep Gee from running was near impossible. That led to talks of football which led to track. So I said to teacher, who just happens to be the track coach, who my son just happens to adore, "when does track start?" He says "Last week, I told my whole class about it. I figured Gee wasn't interested." I mention the fact that often my dear son decides to not mention things he'd LIKE to do because he feels we are too busy to have time. Some things you just MAKE time for. Teacher mentioned that Gee=strong as ox=shot put and discus.

We came home and called Gee out of the house. Bill wanted to pull the whole YOU ARE SO GROUNDED, but I told him NO WAY! I called him out of the house and out he came head down. He thought he was in trouble. Poor kid! I told him how great he'd done and he said, no I didn't. I HAD TO SHOW HIM! He honestly thought he was doing poorly! I also mentioned track, and was he interested?
"Well, yeah..."
"Ok then! Go change you have practice at 4:00."

First day of practice and he came home with a uniform, a meet on Saturday and knowledge that he out threw their farthest thrower by 8'. They haven't even taught them the spinny thing they do. This is a standstill throw. Teacher/Coach also said that Gee wasn't using his legs, just his upper body. They'll work on that.

Today we're off to buy shorts and a long sleeved tee for under his smocky thing. They definitely need new shirts.

One is much simpler to take care of than more than one.

They say having multiples of something is just as easy, same work, just more of it.

Not so with tiny baby goats. With only one little baby to hold and feed we think things like.. "Oh, baby pictures!" When there are seven to hold and feed we think things like "Shit, who's next? Where did the last one go? Haven't I already fed you? Oh shit there is an extra bottle left! GET OFF THE CHAIR!"

So since there is just one we get things like this:

Or this one. She's chasing a cat.

The cat: Not so impressed.

Thank you [info]sarahshevett!! Our first AI babies ever are on the ground today. Twin DOES! I would have been happy with anything, well maybe not twin bucks, but a buck and a doe would have been OK too.

One is home now the other is with mom. This one here was a little chilled when we got there. It was up, but not following mom and a little too willing to lay in the corner, the drafty corner too. So home she came. I'm heating a bottle for her now.

I'm sure I have other news, but I'm still tired. I don't think I haven't been tired in weeks.

Today I started loosing my voice. About once a month it goes. Leaves. Takes a vacation.

Grandpa is ok. Alive and not in the hospital.
